Our History, Mission and School Song 

We service students in grades PreK-5 in the Ahwatukee Foothills Community. Since 1994, we have continually strived to be one of the premier schools in the Kyrene School District. Our administration, faculty, students and parents are second to none. Our school has a wonderful "school climate" that is very conducive to learning. All K-5 students will lead their own learning through ongoing progress checks, data notebooks, and developing effective habits in their lives to positively impact learning.  

Kyrene de los Cerritos is located in the Ahwatukee Foothills section of the Phoenix Metropolitan Area. We are an elementary school in the Kyrene Unified School District. Cerritos is one of 19 elementary schools in the Kyrene District. Kyrene utilizes Spanish and Indian names to help distinguish their schools from schools in the five cities/areas (Tempe, Chandler, Phoenix, Guadalupe and the Gila River Indian Community) where Kyrene schools are located.

The translation for Cerritos is "little hills". The typical enrollment for Cerritos is around 700 students. Our student population is very stable. Cerritos opened its doors in the fall of 1994. The school serves students in Preschool and in grades K-5 on a shared campus with Kyrene Altadeña Middle School.
